About my artwork

when thinking of the utopian thread that connects my projects, my ideas tend to parallel that of robert c. elliot’s understanding of the utopian project, “as the opposite and structured inversion of satire.” this satire isn’t merely some oppositional comment fulfilling the requirements of yet another boring binary, rather, he thought of the utopian project as a “passionate and prophetic onslaught on current conditions, and the wickedness and stupidity of human beings in the fallen world of the here and now.” through aesthetical devices, framing, and rhetoric, i am taking little pieces of the “here and now” and projecting them into the open field of the not distant future, a space in which the future tenants have not at this moment, moved in.
