Sound Artist
About my artwork
I am a saxophonist and instrument builder based in Melbourne, Australia. I am interested in making modifications to the saxophone that radically changes the sound of and approach to the instrument. I craft individual reeds from many materials, transforming the reed into a sensitive and volatile sound source whose properties are ever changing. I use objects in the bell so that with each preparation and reed the vibrations and playing techniques are altered, creating a unique dialogue between the player and the instrument.
I also builds speaker sculptures that use vibrational feedback to create sound and movement. I crafts simple speakers and microphones that make feedback tones with attached objects resonating sympathetically. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sound Art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. I am a founding member of Melbourne based Audio Visual collective, Stream.
