About my artwork
My work is concerned with mans relationship with the environment. The shape and placement of the structures and spaces that we call home or work; I am interested in how the inhabitants live and relate to their surrounding environment ; how a living and working space is created andhow they decline; these are the fascinating visible marks of living that may survive and transcend the person.I work using a variety of media Oil, Acrylic, Pastel etc, sometimes as a single media sometimes mixed.
Artists I like
I refer to and learn from a number of painters and sculptures Cezanne, Diebenkorn,Donoghue,Nash,Piper,Picasso,Rothko,Rembrandt,Gris, Nicholas de Stael. Increasingly I have been influenced by modern Spanish painters.
Interests
I take great inspiration from Land poets such as Jaccottet,Hughes and Lorca. I am a member of Lancashire Mountaineering Club. I love performing and listening to music of a number of genres mostly classical, modern and folk.
