Neil Wood is a British artist, born in London in 1963. Since the mid-nineties, he has lived and worked in Paris and Brussels. He trained at Middlessex University and Canterbury School of Art.
His work combines several customized print-making techniques which would broadly fit under the heading of mono printing were it not for the addition of other borrowed processes such as the oriental craft of batik, fabric dyeing and collage. Photographically generated images and scan-taking are equally present at times, while he also writes texts and introduces drawing at unexpected moments. In his most recent work, he has treated themes such as evolving toxicity, cross-threaded memories and more generally has sought to heighten an intimate exchange with the viewer through his original mix of symbolism, language triggers and a spontaneous, almost fetishistic relationship to materials and colour.
Neil Wood also teaches at l’École Intuit.Lab, a design school in Paris and curates and designs corporate identity projects.
