About my artwork

"2010: the year we made contact"

Mik's Front Room is planned to be a vehicle through which to create "things" neither strictly within my own practice, nor in any particularly established format - and to work with other artists. I hope it will be a playful experiment, in the spirit of 'let's see what happens if...' - perhaps like a blog that exists sometimes virtually, sometimes physically.

Mik's Front Room is launching "off-site" (not in my front room) and is therefore not the show originally planned - hopefully that opportunity will come at a future time.

This launch exhibition had to be organized quickly, responding to both the venue/space and what I knew to be available, so is made up mostly of Nottingham based artists, plus my daughter (a recent photography graduate) with works that - to my mind - fit around the themes of space and UFO's, including the DJ set for the preview. The show could be seen as a playful response to the recent Nottingham Contemporary exhibition "Star City".
