If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?: Conceptual, Drawing, Installation, Painting, Printmaking

I am...: a Fine Art student at DUT, I'm in my second year and loving every minute of it! I'm majoring in printmaking and ceramics (had to choose a 3-D subject -sigh-). Otherwise I'm a fun loving person looking to broaden my horizons and meet people that are interested in art and discussing everything that has to do with art!

About my artwork: I'm still bound to a degree by what is expected of me by my lecturers, but thats all part of the learning process.

Right now I'm mainly focussing on human anatomy and the way the body looks and works. Don't ask me why, I'm just crazy like that!

Artists I like: I'm a big fan of art movements before and at the beginning of the modernist movement. Da Vinci, Monet, van Gogh and Munch. I like some of Kandinsky's works but overall it doesn't make an impression on me.

Contemporary artists I like are Johannes Phokela and the late Dumile Feni. But as always I'm looking for new inspiration everyday!

Interests: Aside from printmaking and drawing, I dabble in a little painting every now and then (not a huge fan!). I'm also keen on horse riding and try to go as often as I can. I love spending time with friends - having a couple of drinks, a good laugh and a jol! And most of all reading. Yep, thats me - the bookworm!

What exhibitions are good at the moment?: There was, maybe still is... an exhibition featuring students from DUT and the KZNSA and otherwise I'm not too sure. There are a few good ones coming up though.

Entry Deadline February 15th 2009.

A solo show next winter 2009 at Bluebird Art House and $1500 to the winner. 1 work in the show for each one of the 3 runner up.
