ART2Gift

On Friday, Raandesk hosted a cocktail hour to kick off the launch of the ART2Gift program and to also given anyone who hadn't seen the Jason Bryant show a chance to see it before it closes on November 21. Of course, I was happy to find so many new people to the Bryant show...and I am sad to see this show come down because it has gotten so much attention and so many compliments! At least with ART2Gift going up it is perfect for the economy and for the holiday season! I started the whole ART2Gift… Continue

South African Art Meets Contemporary Art

As someone who has a background in the history of art, I am constantly troubled by the tremendous amount of art from foreign countries that remain neglected. As I was preparing for an upcoming photography exhibition for one of Raandesk's artists, Marianne Fourie, I found myself pensively reviewing her background. Marianne was partially raised and educated in South Africa. It occurred to me that her work in some way, maybe not externally, but internally could be a reflection of her upbringing in… Continue

Technology

Today Raandesk released its monthly newsletter, CLICK + COLLECT, with tidbits from the artworld, our upcoming exhibition, new artists, our ART2Gift program and a survey.....I've never used a survey before. I thought it would be great to get some direct feedback from our readers, buyers, attendees, etc so I was excited. I even gave them an incentive to do the survey...wine, discounts.... The link didn't work. To the survey. The only link that didn't work in a newsletter packed with links. It wo… Continue

Photorealism

I've spent a lot of time planning Raandesk's next exhibition, Someday, Maybe, Never: New Paintings by Jason Bryant, and I've been thinking a lot about photorealism...not just as a style but the reactionary mechanism it carries in relation to the general public. Each time I speak with someone new about the show and hand them a card they would assume that the work was a photograph (… Continue

Nice works! I really admire artists that are highly skilled at photography too...actually it makes me green with envy because my photo taking skills are horrible LOL...your photos are wonderful and I liked quite a few of your paintings too.

Pam
