Raising awareness and indulging in a LOVE for ART! For the past 9 plus years, I have been involved with ACT, the domestic violence and sexual assault center in Fort Myers, Florida, as Director of Operations. Five years ago, I became the curator for its gallery, Arts for ACT Gallery and Boutique. Don't tell my CEO, but I would probably pay her for this part of my job! Arts for ACT Gallery & Boutique is a pace setting, award winning and 100% non-profit gallery. All of the proceeds from the sales of art provide safe shelter and support services for our victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and the children also can live in shelter. Our gallery is located in historic downtown of Fort Myers, Florida. Recently renamed the River District. We represent over 50 local, national and international artists. Being a truly eclectic gallery, our artists include among others, the late four-time gold medal Olympic discus winner and abstract painter Al Oerter, Everglades photographer Clyde Butcher, and the limited edition prints of Darryl Pottorf, Romero Britto and World Renowned Robert Rauschenberg. The gallery is reminiscent of a SoHo gallery in NYC, with over 2800 square feet of many gallery rooms ranging from formal to funky, distressed brick walls and warm wooden and mosaic tile floors, the gallery showcases 3 to 5 different featured artists each month and hosts a "Meet the Artists" opening reception the first Friday of each month from 7 to 10 p.m. Buying ART from ACT Gallery saves LIVES!
