If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Painting
I am...
a painter mostly. And a figurative one.
About my artwork
As a visual artist, and not a writer, I feel it's best if I just shut up about my practice and get on with it.
Artists I like
Mamma Andersson, Beatriz Milhazes, Peter Doig, Michael Borremans, Annette Messager.... Then there's Velazquez, Goya, El Greco and plenty more that I can't think of at the moment.

You are so lucky to have missed the heat here in South Oz Christine (you do miss it right?lol). Terrible, tragic fires in the Eastern states of course which I'm sure you heard about.
I'm just popping in to say hello and browse your works again.. on the bright side the oil paint is drying quickly over here.
Take care ok and keep that brush loaded!

Miles of smiles,

Ha! I thought I'd have a bit of fun with this "blog" thing - and truly it was rather a relief that the whole thing wasn't the disaster I feared, given economic reports. Besides which, we did have a good time, and it was - as usual - a fascinating thing to do and see. I'm glad you liked the "report".
I can't claim to be fully "comfortable" with the "market", not that I'm totally against it, but I guess painters have little choice but to "engage" in one form or another - it was interesting to have a few days immersed in it, albeit with a gallery that feels somehow similar.
These art fairs are an important way of profiling painting (perhaps I should have written that in capitals?) and of course the market is changing again, as it will ever do... as does our relationship to it, I suppose... ahh - late night waffle!
It was fun - glad you liked it.
Night-night.

Hello Christine,
Very good of you to ask about the London Art Fair - and yes indeed, it seemed to go rather well. Certainly the gallery were happy, and it was very busy with lots of visitors, artists and buyers - and I saw one or two friends, met some new people - even other Bend In The River artists, which was good for putting faces to their work. I even saw a few works by artists here on ArtReview - oh, and some gallery AR members too!
I had to take the last painting down to the fair with me, as it was a late addition ("Sonia25bi" - I'm glad you liked it!) hot-off-the-press and it sold within minutes to a guy from Miami - I hadn't even had time to more than glance at it in its gorgeous new frame! I sold some other stuff too, but I kept out of the way when they were doing business - I was keen to have a good look around the fair anyway.
So all in all, a useful, occasionally fascinating but exhausting few days - and Mike Bowdidge and I had fun doing the rounds, with occasional visits to local hostelries - just to keep the energy levels up, you understand!
Thanks again - hope you had a good trip.
Cheers, Mik
