I am...
an independent researcher, curator and writer living and working between Berlin and Damascus. With a basis in Near Eastern archaeology and art history, my main field of interest now is contemporary artistic and cultural practice in the Arab world and its diaspora, especially but not exclusively film, video and photography and the hybridity of trans- or intercultural existence.
My background is international with a childhood and youth spent between several European countries and my present life spent for a great part on the move. This life between countries and cultures has made me very much aware of how useless any assertions of superiority, whether national or cultural are.
The fragility of human existence is a central aspect in my projects as is the hybridity of contemporary urban culture. I attempt to explore and analyze the concequences of globalization, colonialism, immigration, exile and alienation. But also the chances offered by greater mobility and connectedness.
In many of my projects there is a certain twist. I seek to challenge people's ideas about the world and invite them to reflect on their own prejudices. My aim is to dismantle stereotypes.
About my artwork
My work is very much much influenced by my hybrid experiences. I explore the signs of human interaction with space, whether built or natural, flows and movement as well as the constant flux of identities. I seek to challenge people and their ideas about the world. And I try to confront stereotypes in all shapes.

Good day Charlotte. Your mind interests me. My art, mainly
video-audio-matter installations, deal with sober escapism within the entrapped mental territory and a crazed geographic locus -Israel. I believe you'll find 'The Code' film and 'Valeriana' installation close to your spirit. Best wishes.
