I am...: Carlos was born in Madrid, Spain then later moved to Las Vegas where he received a B.F.A. in painting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has exhibited work locally since 2005 and internationally as a participant of the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Adelaide, Australia, 2009. Local exhibitions include solo shows as well as numerous awards in juried shows. His work was featured in the 2008 Las Vegas Art Expo held the Mandalay Bay Resort, and currently hangs inside the Venetian Hotel. He has been featured in numerous Las Vegas publications such as the Las Vegas City Life and the Las Vegas Weekly. His recent work varies in mediums. The current show shown here entitled “Objects” deals with form, light and color; it explores materials and object making as a way to measure his surroundings. About my artwork: Painting, sculpture,photography and graphics; my work varies depending on the medium I work in. Religion and mythology is an interest which I directly reference in some of my work. I enjoy reading, working and playing in the studio. These moments of solitude allow me to sort through ideas and experiment with materials. Working in many mediums allows me to think in different dimensions. I like having this option and love what I do.
