I am...
an interdisciplinary artist living in Florida. I feel it’s my role as an artist to continually redefine myself, and in doing so question my reality and the status quo. My current project is investigating current trends in fashion and design, and trying to provoke dialogue with the viewer about how we as a culture perceive imagery. How we often times accept popular imagery without asking what the imagery actually means.
I am personally affected very deeply by the war in Iraq. Having joined the U.S. Army after 911 after living as a resident in Brooklyn, NY for several years, I often times question our involvement in the war and would like to shed light on issues regarding my culture and global policy, if only to reinforce my personal engagement and obligation to the soldiers who have died while serving my country.
About my artwork
My work uses imagery specific to what I’m investigating and will change according to each project. I am concerned with apathy in my life and in our culture and how that affects us on a daily basis. I find it interesting to make work that is iconic and symbolic and at the same time can be perceived many ways. The end goal for me is to attempt to have a conversation about real issues that we all are experiencing personally and politically in order to engage thought and action.
