If you're an artist, what kind of art do you make?
Sculpture
I am...
I am a fiction writer and visual artist living in Brooklyn.
About my artwork
My assemblages are often situated in collaged wooden boxes, in which blocks of clear resin--containing preserved biological specimens, glass vials, antique texts, cloth, and other items--are mounted. These box constructions involve images and themes which also occur in my short stories. I am interested in the Wunderkammer or cabinet of curiosities as a genre with both plastic and literary possibilities.
Artists I like
Joseph Cornell, Jan Svankmajer, David Lynch, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Hans Memling, Jan Vermeer, Rosamond Purcell, Vladimir Nabokov, W.G. Sebald
Interests
Hotels, apiarism, bathing machines, medicine bottles, engravings, sericulture, maps, wax.
The centre of the artworld is
nowhere and everywhere

hello Brian,
That was a lovely thing to say, Im touched!
It is all the things I want, to make people stop and 'look' at all the wonderous things we often overlook, and take for granted.
I am about to start a new body of work in next few weeks, watch this space. and thank you!!:))

The perverbial barrier...it is this said barrier that is giving me a warm time with the work i'm doing now. I am fascinated by what is or may be beyond the line...yet i cross it with great ( and i mean GREAT) trepidation....

hello...sorry about the absence of the descriptions. I have posted descriptions for the paintings currently uploaded so feel free to peruse them. Thank you very much for commentary. Also in your profile u state Joesph Cornell as one of ur choice artists. I love to collect things as well, stones, shells, buttons, old nests...but i have never thought of using them the way Cornell or u have. I definitely will be revisiting my little collections...Thanks again and i would love to know what ur working on next...

Brian:

Of course, please come by the gallery anytime you are in town. Luke & Eloy is located in Lawrenceville, the Arts & Design District of Pittsburgh, which has many galleries, niche boutiques, restaurants and cafes.

In regards to your work: Could you tell me a little bit more about your thinking process, e.g. is your work inspired by childhood memories or other influences ? Thanks.
