CAN, Egerton and Oldknows studios are threatened with eviction - out by March 2009. There's a meeting on Teusday at 6pm in the Oldknows Factory basement - why not come along to lend your support?

Open to all artists in all fine arts media we seek to recognize outstanding quality and diversity in the arts.
The 2009 IJC is open to all artists worldwide, age 18 and older. All works must be original. Entries in the following medias will be accepted: Painting, Drawing, Mixed media, Printmaking, Watercolor, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Photography.
Entry Deadline February 15th 2009.
AWARD
A solo show next winter 2009 at Bluebird Art House and $1500 to the winner. 1 work in the show for each one of the 3 runner up.

Thanks for your interest on "A bâtons rompus"The title means"free talk" and the chair talks about art and artists .It says that Dubuffet was right when he said that culture stiffled artists.(You may know Dubuffet who iniciated "raw art")
That real art comes from the innocent man who never received artistic learning .
It is also a talk about conceptual art : nowadays,the work of art is becoming secondary because concepts have taken so much importance that artists do not use their hands and creativity,but only their brains ; art has lost what is the very essence of itself,artists forget that they should communicate with their soul ;my chair says that art has gone down to the bottom !
