Artist
I am...
a young artist at the beginning of my career looking into ways of gaining experience and broadening my practise.
About my artwork
My paintings are often psychological portraits which incorporate a large proportion of found visual material from past and present alongside riffs on the myths and work of other artists. The aim is to produce contemporary scene paintings that respond to the complex current social climate and the affects this has on the individual.
Artists I like
Mattias Weischer, Titian, Goya, Bonnard, Neo Rauch, Peter Doig, Michael Andrews, Rui Matsunaga.
Interests
Alongside painting I have a huge interest in music, films, books (I'm currently reading The Flounder by Gunter Grass, other favourites of mine are The Quiet American, Slaughterhouse 5 and Catch 22). I also love walking, particularly up a hill or on a beach on a clear winters day.
The centre of the artworld is
another city

To be in the moment! Or Not in the moment. What! What!

Is an artist right to thrive on the "in the moment" act of working, to lose themselves? I am often intrigued by peoples perceptions of how an artist works, the expecteptation of a moment of furious genius, I find it frustrating and a simplification o… Continue

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your comments.
I believe your curating and organising an exhibition with Richard Meaghan to which you've kindly invited me to participate. (Kapellmeister in London).
After my show I'm going to start working on it. For my sins I'm trying to get my Galerie here in Germany involved, pushing to try and get the show over here. Just got to strike at the right moment!
