About my artwork: painting (alkyd oils); jewellery making (metal clay/art clay silver/PMC), digital art (Painter).
A keen amateur painter and jewellery maker, I usually paint with alkyd oils, and my jewellery pieces are .999 fine silver and made in PMC (Precious Metal Clay) or Silverclay.
I live near Matlock on the edge of the Peak District of the UK. This seems to influence my work, which tends to be highly textural and variegated, reflecting the limestone and woodland environment I inhabit.
I'm inspired by many different things, but currently the overriding ones are probably ancient art, and mid-20th Century Modernism, in particular the work of many Scandinavian makers. My interest in organic forms and textures is also reflected in my painting, most of which falls somewhere between landscape and abstraction. Recently I've been doing a lot more drawing, making spontaneous ink drawings and beginning to explore more gestural ways of painting.
