I am...
An artist from London, currently finishing my degree in fine art at Chester university.
I use found materials; working in a way that considers placement and assemblages, to create sculptures that in both inside and the outside environment.
whilst living in Chester I have exhibited in many public spaces; including the Bishop of Chester house for a fundraisor and raising awareness for a homeless charity.
I plan to move back to London after university where i hope to gain an artist in residence and work within an art gallery or community arts.
About my artwork
Artist Statement
There is a certain oddness presented by the disembodied and discarded forms of our everyday existence that I attempt to understand through my practice.
Combining these underestimated materials, allowing new relationships to form with a resulting narrative is currently what I am concerned with.
Allowing chance to occur, and reflecting upon the results provides an ability to discover and embellish an anonymous history ; a history already suggested by the scars and traces on the objects through use over time.
Whilst this is an intervention of contrivance, it is contrivance that is only slightly removed from situations and configurations that present themselves in the real world.
In this developed series of work, I observe the place as a raw canvas and materials the means by which the canvas is rendered complete; as tools I begin the process of making and placement. Combining palettes, bricks, pipes, wires, steel rods and girders allowing there existing formal qualities and formal ascetics to merge into and follow through one an other; I give rise to producing an interesting and an unusual combination of routes, trails, mappings, structures and oddities not so far collective from our everyday.
