This is a question which has begun to affect my practice.

Where do the worlds of art and music collide? Or do they overlap, interwork and combine? Without the more easily separable commercial side of music, can we really discount Girls Aloud et al as art?

Is there a line, and if so where?

Art is never objective.
the only thingy in art is these days is the money, that's the real rubish.
the money hype (damien hurst) that's the real rubish, and I'm not saying that Damien's wirk is rubish
he just expoits in a verry clever business like way the wants of the few. and that might be rubish to.
