Yes, Of course. He was an influence. But I hope that you agree thet I built up my own way and world in sculpture and that I developed further directions...

Michael, it's looks fantastic. i wish i could see it in person as any photo of a sculpture doesn't do it justice. i can see so much more than a formalism thing going on here. the interesting thing for me is the linearity of the elements; i keep wanting to assemble them into a sentence, one that can flow right to left or the other way around. But it's the variations of the grid that get my attention as usual. Wine rack grid <--> table grid <--> floor grid (tilted!) <--> linear rail (?) grid <--> head (sleeping? dead? death mask?) Very nice work.

btw...my piece "anima" (see below) won second place at the Torrance Art Museum competition here in Southern California.

btw2...i'll post some pics of the cable-cube experiments i have going in my studio now. I have some questions for you about knots.

It's all gone a bit quite here, I hope that means we're all really busy making new work... FWIW this is what I've been up to...

ok. Here is the piece with it's final trim.

Now on to some smaller, easier pieces. I'm thinking wall stuff for a while. :-)

Send 'em my way when they're done at your place :)

the piece stands 8' high, 5' wide and 8' long. it does take some space for sure. I'm currently giving it a haircut, which is taking longer than i thought it would. But the results are fantastic. I'll post a whole series of pics next week when i'm done. I've got about 20 collectors coming by on a tour on the 5th of October and EVERYTHING has to be perfect!

I think that the "haircut" would take away the awesome animated movement of this piece. It seem to wiggle and sway and inch around the ground making the work come alive.

David I absolutely love it. Must be something to see in person as it looks like it's taking up and incrediable amount of space. What are the dimensions? Aside from trimming it up is there anything else that has ocurred to you since making friends with it? I love how works start to take on a life of their own. That's when the real fun begins... Great job!

David, That is a wild piece. It reminds me of some sort of terrestrial jellyfish.
