of course. I agree with you because all people have same feeling.
but now in this age when you see any art work you can't know who make it. specially if it is contemporary art work. but if artist employ his heritage at this time can know.
Interesting question! I ponder it all the time in my work! I do think that east and west has two seperate or rather different sensibilities. Talent is not it, because to me, we cannot judge one's work by an "ideal" but rather a belief. If I appreciate the truck paintings in Pakistan while another Western critic says that they are crafty and "tacky" they are setting standards to what art is.....and what truth maybe....
oh, pardon me for rambling...I am just so fascinated by all this!
i dont think the most important think is to know who did the art work , in my point view , i think the art work is speaks a bout it self , you maight be live in jordan , but you may brawsing the net all the time so , thin you will be internationaly effected , so haw is the heritage , will appear on the work , i think the art work is some thing reflict the inside world of the artist , only.
Hi there
all the matter.
the solution came from Plato before 2400 years.
when he said ( I like to see many kind
of flowers in garden it come more beautiful ),
here I speak for new concept, it is
( the democracy in art ) and that what we need.
specialy the other artists who outside of western world.
You all are right! We have alittle bit of everything and that is why we are all human! So many wonderful flowers to choose from that I love all the different ones and get inspiration from them.
By the way, Dawn, your little boys are cute! Thanks for sharing!
Hi All!
Well I reacon that our cultural roots may often effect our vision and understanding. The more an individual is rooted in a particular situation the more this becomes true, and none of us live in a vacuum.
It is true that globalization and computers have levelled the playing field a little, access to information means ideas take alot less time to mingle, but art is like the visable tip of the iceberg, underneath its grounded in various canons and traditions, experience, life and history. So unless you are living a very diverse life and your art manifests in a very original form without any reference to your immediate environment, there maybe tell tale signs. You're going to have some connections.
We can try and be pluralistic, I like to think of myself of a world citizen, but I'll alway be a world citizen who was born in the west and I carry relevant baggage. Good luck to us all!

we all paint ourselves
