yes to look the art in reality, because some kinds of art like painting, engraving, can be completely different when you see them for real. I was a big fan of magritte but was very disappointed to see the actual works, they are much better on the photo. Likewise i was not much impressed by the venus of botticelli s photos but got struck to see it in the uffizi, the work has more to say than the actual image you see around
patience is oldfashioned , and love to see all the works in here, so maybe like to take time to observe everything with the time igot
time is money, money is time...? yes, this is true, in the world of business and commerce
but money is ONLY money
time is the Real gold, but maybe it takes the perspective and wisdom of age for people to
realize this
Next week, I will have my 56th birthday, so I can look out over a broader picture, having
all those miles traveled
But, believe me, there is a lot of turmoil associated with being young, but there IS a certain
energy to it also
The "Want it now, demand for immediate gratification, hurry up, instant noodle culture we
are living in now is a product of the advertising age, but it is catering to the infantile
short sighted shallow aspect of human nature
It is the journey, people
I have been a working carpenter and builder for all of my life, and the majority of the
time, have always had people pushing.......hurry!....hurry!.....hurry!
So, maybe the attitude I have now is a Revolt against that
i can t believe you are 52, in the photo you look no more than 40, well i m still relatively youngish being v28 but always found the young obsession very stressful. I m naturally very slow and like to do things well, so i take my time, i think that having everything now is stupid because it really lacks of perspective, i see everything aswith seeds, they take time and still it is a pleasure to see things grow. Maybe with a strongre connection with nature, things will change a bit
G
so, Giulio, you are 28 years old, do the math, when I turn 56 next week, it is
2 x 28=56
I am still learning things everyday, hell, it is with amazement that I find myself
this age, the young think youth is eternal, but there are things we gain from
experience, priorities shift, the triviality of some things becomes obvious, and
others gain in importance.
It IS vital to keep moving and growing, otherwise you are a dead man that is
still breathing
as to my appearance in the photo, I am what I am :) I do try to have a healthy
lifestyle, take the vitamins, ect.... and my work keeps me moving, a carpenter
and woodworker does not spend his days at a desk. And I smoke and drink,
this gives one another reason for living....ha
Hi Chris, I would rather have a craftsman take his time on a project and measure twice; than some one who slaps something together... and enjoy the double nickle for one more week.
i like very much your attitude, so vtal ironic. i never found myself eternal, maybe a think too much, and always thought about heavy philpsophical staff, now i m trying to take things easier, and be more grounded,
All this is bs. We all have the same amount of time. Gravity mapping successfully showed very very slight variations in the earths spacetime (via airflight times). I have 24 hours, you have 24 hours. Quality is not quantity. I wonder if any of you have even read the Tractatus and understand Picture Theory and know anything beyond the buzzword level of meaning about representation. The thing is that this silly "Art World" operates upon a dime store buying paradigm who uses the internet and portfolios like a Sears Catalog. What a joke!
Noah, no disrespect, but what you're saying has no relevance whatsoever to the preceding conversation. Some us of have read Wittgenstein (I prefer the Philosophical Investigations myself) but philosophy (and learning in general) are tools for the improvement of life and not sticks for beating people with.

You would do well to wear your learning a little more lightly, in my humble opinion.
Thanks for the feedback. If, then, this only I assert. The point I was making is the importance of seriousness and scholarship in these areas. I think it is important to read Kant, Witt., Lacan, Baudrillard, Agamben, et all if one tries to even talk about this stuff, a thing which I have no small disdain for anyway. I have grown tired of the vague, I guess, having spent much too much time with hipster cool kids with too much money pretending to be profound. As for philosophy, I think that it's a bit more than a tool. I would say that tools come out of philosophies in their application, their genesis through philosophy and stemming from the art. But your point is well taken; I will tone it down. Thankyou.
