Whereabouts Of Leyla Farzadi

I have spent two weeks now searching for valid and current information on the political prisoner Leyla Farzadi of Iran. I have tried multiple sources on the internet and several organizations including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. At this exact point in time I have been unable to find any new information about Leyla since the articles that were released by Amnesty International at the end of June 2009.

I did find an article from the Guardian Newspaper website dated January 2010 that talks about many of the activists and students that were arrested alongside Leyla. I will quote it below:

Two men were today hanged in Iran, the first known execution of opposition activists since the June 2009 election. Neither appeared to be connected to the post-election protests. At least one, Arash Rahmanipour, was already in jail, according to his lawyer. The other, Mohammad Reza Ali Zamani, was the first to be sentenced to death in the mass trials that followed the disputed vote, according to Amnesty.

According to the Iranian authorities, at least nine other people are currently on death row in Iran after being sentenced to death in similar post-election trials.

Thousands have been arrested in Iran since the election and many are still held in jail, some tortured or thought to be at risk of torture. Human rights and campaign groups such as Human Rights Watch, the Campaign for Human Rights in Iran and Reporters Without Borders have been collecting and publishing the names of those dead or detained.

We have brought those lists, and reports from trusted media sources, into a database that we are asking readers and those elsewhere on the internet to contribute too.

Since we launched this exercise we have had hundreds of emails, photographs and names sent to us. Keep them coming.

I have also found a group on Facebook that has a large amount of information on political prisoners in Iran - the name of the group is In Defense Of Freedom Of Speech In Iran. As soon as I can get one tiny scrap more of information about Leyla I will be sure to post it here to keep information about her current.
