Video Dia Loghi Italy selection:
2011
Curatorial Alison Williams(HEP) and Willy Darko (Italy)
The selection of the following works are based on a query about human nature and the continuation of life as we know it. This temporal journey we are on; is it
away from or towards the higher self? Are we still intent on survival of the species; or has violence, hatred, cruelty, greed, corruption, ignorance and our lack of tolerance toward our fellow man; forced us more away from ourselves?
Is it embarrassing to be called "human" and is it time to reevaluate our position here as the "superior species" ?
Perhaps all we have left is our hope for growth and change and a sense of humor that will make the journey more worthwhile, for without the ability to laugh - we have achieved nothing. Look at the forefathers do they turn in their graves? With some effort and some insight we may yet save the human race. Or is it too late?
(Alison Williams)
Human Emotion Project has chosen the works of the following artists due to their strong sense of "humanity" and their continual search for answers to the question of "where do we fit in, as artists and individuals, in relation to this cruel world? They make use of art to identify, personify, search and make people more aware, using art as a voice and visual message.

Permalink Reply by alison williams on June 20, 2011 at 16:43 The selection for HEP Italy this year started with thoughts on "travel", the "journey of life" and the ultimate culmination which is death. It was fairly difficult to select works that fitted within the 40 minute screening time allocated to HEP artists and there were many other works, which were of longer duration that I would have loved to incorporate. The above selection makes an attempt to reflect those artists that are constantly searching for answers to life's questions and at the same time, provoking thoughts on beauty but also the darker side of being "human all too human."
We will continue to try screen artists in various countries as these opportunities present themselves.
thank you for letting us screen your works ! We look forward to a few more HEP shows this year -
stick with us ok, we love you
