about

The icon comes in many guises and over time it’s become a global business, from celebrity icon to fashion icon, sporting icon to business icon. The eras have seen icons grow in size, shape, form and format. Once seen that big was best, it has now been reversed, with technology and communication getting smaller. We now view one of the smallest icons throughout our daily lives. That is the favicon. This combination and extension of brand and logo is possibly one of the smallest icons in the world at 16x16 pixels.
Overlooked by some and bookmarked by others the favicon is a revealing insight of humankinds nature to identify and signify even the smallest of spaces.

A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon is a 16x16 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage. A web designer can create such an icon and install it into a website (or webpage) by several means, and most graphical web browsers will then make use of it. Browsers that provide favicon support typically display a page's favicon in the browser's Address bar and next to the page's name in a list of bookmarks.

The worlds largest smallest exhibition - Favicon.

The Favicon Exhibition is now looking for contributors to this grand idea with intricate detail.

You may submit your own website favicon to the exhibition proposal or create a favicon of your own from scratch. Remember to be as inventive and creative as you can within the confined space of 16x16 pixels.

Please send all favicons via email as a gif or jpeg format.

Best wishes, mark

Hi, ever since I worked out what they are and how to get them into webpages I've been 'in love' with favicons. Your idea of an exhibition has got to be done - good, and good luck! I'll send you mine - to your email above?

Thank you for the invitation! I am looking forward to this project, although, I am afraid, I am not sure I will find the time to contribute myself!
