Hello all. I collect all my emptys (cereal boxes, newspapers, general household clutter) and cut them up and make stuff out of them. I get a real kick out of it. Like the inside of an empty cereal box, with its beautiful plain untouched cardboard, which can be used for all kinds of different things, yet on the outside the different words/colors are there also. All for the imagination. Metal coat hangers are great too for that really surreal ornamental look.
Cheers
Richie

At moments of great enthusiasm it seems to me that no one in the world has ever made something this beautiful and important.

Hi Craft Culture members...

I mostly create photographic informed art, but I do dabble in the three dimensional.
I currently have a non-functional teapot in the "National Teapot Show VII" at Cedar Creek Gallery. My teapot is fish-shaped and includes "digital" scales. I took photos of water, printed and cut into scale shapes and applied them to my teapot. You can see what I mean at my craft site:

I recently saw "Pricked: Extreme Embroidery" at the Museum of Arts and Design in nyc and was extremely impressed by the work there. I was also impressed that this is a movement in contemporary art all around the world. One possible explanation was that, in addition to being a traditional craft beckoning to our personal histories, it slows down time and is tactile in a sometimes impersonal world.
