No’flk Up Sticks

Empire Gallery hosting Norwich MA Graduate show 2008.

***Curated by Julia Devonshire***

Sara Ross, Tim Mellors, Helen Otter, Diane Archer, Juliet Hayward, Laura Harwood, Cecilia Sandrini, Edwina Goldstone, Rachel Madeburgh, Christina Sabberton

Opens 26th-30th November, 12-6pm daily

Private View 27th November 6-9pm

No’flk Up Sticks presents the work of ten recent Fine Art graduates from Norwich School of Art & Design. This exhibition has been born out of group dialogue between the artists spurred by their mutual desire to show together in another city. Although the diverse works including installation, film, painting and photography may result from different practices they render inevitable collective sensibilities and awareness of the contemporary world that they occupy, as artists and social/ political beings. And, although not staged out of an aesthetic or theoretical inquiry, the works engage some interesting relations. Formal processes sit alongside contemporary praxis and new media, each disclosing some sort of commentary be that the demonstration of visual phenomena discovered in the formal process of making or the informal ‘reveal’ of human nature found in cultural or sociological encounters.</</body>

Hi there,

a brief note to members of Axis - I am holding a group exhibition on November the 7th in Bath City at the St James Wine Vaults. It will run for one week, big party on the 7th starting at 7pm, and will feature some really original, not so pretentious modern art from three local artists. If you live in the South West and can make it in for an hour or so please don't hesitate to make the connection!!!

Details of the show are listed here on artreview in the november calender.

Best, luke ::~)

Dear people at Axis Web,

forgive me in advance for my ignorance. I am a member of an arts org here in Bath called BANA which has its quarters next to the Widcombe Gallery (although I have contributed much in quite a few months etc etc).

When I first joined them they gave me a handbook (which I sadly lost in my usual state of chaos) which had a description of Axis Web and one of my friends at BANA had mentioned it is quite a vital group.

Is it possible you can post something up here plugging any key events/workshops that you have coming up as I'm sure many artists up on this site who are not familiar would find it abundantly useful and interesting.

I would love to learn more about you guys. Best, Luke :)
