I haven't read an Art Review in 20 years in Art News or Art in America. UK's Editor and Critic, Peter Fulton was the last great Art Critic., MODERN PAINTERS. and he is deceased.

Most Art critics today ONLY DESCRIBE A WORK BEFORE THEM PHYSICALLY NEVER EVER MAKE A COMMENT . Period....its very big and round and has green and red dots all over the metal, i think its metal ..hmmm feels like plastic......

Art is an extention of the artists mind, therefore if one was to receive a bad review, one may take it strongly personal and may be affected deeply by it.

The degree of "talent" is a matter of individual perception on any given day. Opinions change. Even as an artist, I have viewed pieces in the past which I disliked at the time, but then years later, enjoyed viewing and vice versa. I think that when someone looks at an art piece, it either relates to their own perception, thoughts and their views on "what is talent" and then deemed as "good" or it does not represent their views or openess to diversity at that time and therefore deemed as "bad".

As long as the artist feels they have accomplished their goal, what else matters. If someone said to you that they hated the way you dress yourself, the colors don't match or the style was out dated, would you change your outfit, entire wardrobe or walk around naked?

How deeply would you let one person's opinion affect your own peace of mind and how much do you respect that one person's opinion are the questions here.

Not had much contact with them yet for my own work. But what makes me laugh most art crtics are not artist and have not always even studied art so what the hell do they know!
Who cares what they think you don't make the installation or painting etc for them. I will be inviting a huge bunch to a event im doing in London in sep called illumini. so I will let you know what i think of them then ha ha
